About me

Hi, my name is Clara Kirk and I am the artist behind this website.

I am born and raised in Copenhagen, Denmark, where I live with my husband and my to boys. I have a Master of Arts in European Ethnology from the University of Copenhagen, where I graduated in 2019. I have worked in several huge culture organizations; The National Gallery (SMK), The Workers Museum, The Royal Library, The Danish Parliament etc.

Creativity certainly flows in my family. My grandfather, Erik Werner, drew political and cultural drawings for the newspapers when I was a child. Furthermore my mother originally designed clothes and my father is working with book layouts and publishing. One might suggest that I was born with an eye for aesthetics and a natural understanding of visual communication.

I have never seriously explored my own creative side, since I was a child. Until the summer of 2022 where I experienced a fullblown nervous breakdown. There was no doubt I had a depression, a ‘severe depression with anxiety and micropsycotic episodes’.

It was all of my biggest fears concentrated in one sentence. I had to find a way to process my thoughts and that is why I started painting. The artistic process offers me a free space where I can use my imagination and sensitivity in a constructive way. Wether it is a painting, a photo project or designing a website I am working on.

I hope my work will empower everyone to remember that imagination and creativity is a huge part of being human, and it is okay to prioritize daydreaming.

EVERYDAY.
